Art Clokey passed away on January 8th, 2010. Larely responsible for the popularity of stop motion clay animation, he began his career with the production "Gumbasia," a hypnotic and lush exhibition of his talents as an animator. Later he went on to create the popular television show Gumby inspired by trips to his grandfather's farm as a child. Originally released in 1955, his playful relationship with clay as a medium is reminiscent of the Eames video's where they explore textiles such as fiberglass and plastic. Stay tuned, I have more to say for this piece but I think I've just been shot with a horse tranquilizer and must bid you adieu for now.
